Kindergarten and Preschool
Introduction
Music House Kindergarten is an accredited kindergarten for families based in the peaceful surroundings of the Buda Hills, and it is located in a green and quiet environment. We offer a music-based curriculum with small groups furnished with age-appropriate games and developmental equipment, plus a dedicated music room and gymnasium. We also have a book corner and a well-equipped, private playground. Our Hungarian and foreign teachers work in close co-operation with parents to develop confident and independent children. Music House provides nutritious meals four times a day, prepared daily by our dedicated kitchen staff.
It is important for us to have good communication and information exchange between the kindergarten’s management, teachers and parents / families. In addition, it is possible to organise meetings during the year, if need be, with teachers and management.
The kindergarten is open every weekday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Activities
In addition to our music-based curriculum, Music House offers a strong emphasis on the development of all key individual skills including gross motor skills, fine motor skills, speech, creativity, imagination, and socialisation during free play. We also offer a varied programme, as we have unique and exciting activities based on regularly changing topics.
As the children are immersed in an international language all day, every day, they develop their skills in a natural and fun way, comparable to the acquisition of a mother tongue. We actively encourage the children to play and to learn language in a fun and enriching way. For this intensive in-depth approach, the presence of native English-speaking kindergarten teachers is essential, who consistently use their mother tongue in the daily life of the kindergarten including with the following subjects:
- Language Development,
- Mathematics,
- Writing & Reading
- Preparation,
- Robotics,
- Music,
- Physical Education,
- Arts and Crafts,
- Drama & Expression,
- Yoga for Children.
Special events, activities and trips:
- A ‘Friday Funday’ each Friday filled with exciting activities,
- Trips to the forest,
- Apple picking & horticulture,
- Special guests who are regularly invited to provide special programmes,
- Scientific experiments,
- Horseback riding,
- Museum visits,
- Trips to different playgrounds,
- Halloween & carnival,
- Baking & cooking,
- Puppet theatre.
School Preparation
The make-up of our kindergarten reflects our international background and we have both Hungarian and foreign students. We therefore consider it key to prepare the children for both the British and American school system as well as the Hungarian education system (be it only Hungarian or bilingual Hungarian-English) during the school preparation years. This allows our families great flexibility when it comes to choosing their next school environment once their child has graduated from Music House.
The methodology with which we work and with which we achieve our goal includes not only the preparatory classes for the British and American school system (writing, reading, mathematics, logical development etc.) but also the preparatory classes for the Hungarian education system (this is optional).
By the end of their preschool years, our goal is for the children to be able to follow any school programme, including bilingual Hungarian-English systems. Our pupils have successfully gone on to study at various institutions including British/American international schools around the world, private bilingual English-Hungarian institutions, and state English-Hungarian institutions. Overall, our pupils leave us with impeccable and confident language skills.
Community life & special events
In addition to the above regular programmes during the year, we value our family atmosphere as we are a relatively small institution with small groups and many siblings. We also value the direct relationships between teachers and families as well as our co-operation with international institutions and schools. At Music House, we also hold regular private events aimed at our attending families.
The following programmes are examples of special events involving our families. These include events which our students directly take part in as a way to enrich their learning experience and grow their self-confidence.
- Christmas Show,
- Parents’ Day,
- Picnic with families,
- End-of-year show with graduation programmes
